Herein I comment, pontificate, repeat, quote, share or ask about things I think are important for folks to get right. I believe that, more often than not, I am essentially correct in my assessments. I have been known to alter my opinion on some matters, if I am persuaded by credible evidence that I have not correctly considered the matter.
My views would , most often, be considered pretty conservative. But I think that the far Right is as mis-guided as the Far Left. However, I think that the long term consequences of adopting far left policy is disastrous and the long term consequences of leaning too far to the right are generally more quickly recovered from. Largely because moving to the left costs taxpayers a lot of money and leaning to the right is usually far less expensive. I guess that makes me a fiscal conservative. Regarding Social Issues , I'm likely to be more in the middle.
At one time I was on the County Republican Central Committee. I find that both major parties have lost their way, and I believe that the ENTIRE Congress should be replaced in the next rounds of elections. Term limits should be put in place. We should have citizen legislators , not an oligarchy of career politicians that operate under a different set of rules than the rest of us.
I think Barack Obama and pretty much everything he says and stands for is nonsense and bad for the country. Obama is a Statist. A statist believes that the State – not the citizenry knows best. He appears to believe that , if given options people are most likely to do the "wrong" thing and that the government should regulate most aspects of life, with the over-riding goal of achieving "fairness". When he speaks, he really says nothing of substance 99% of the time, but he says it so well that nobody notices. I find it unbelievable that our citizenry can listen to him and subsequently think that he has actually said anything. He's definitely good with the fluffy bullshit talk. I listen and I re-listen and there is simply nothing there.
My political leanings are primarily Libertarian. The constitution should be amended with many of the proposed "28th amendments" , perhaps bundled as a "Bill of Governmental Common Sense and the clear limitation of Federal Power".
The terms redpill and its opposite, bluepill, are pop culture terms that have become a common symbol for the choice between the blissful ignorance of illusion (blue) and embracing the sometimes painful truth of reality (red). The terms were popularized in science fiction culture via the 1999 film The Matrix. (souce wikipedia) ) I do not think it is a coincidence that, similarly, red and blue are used to describe the Conservatives and the Liberals of today.
